Coldplay is
an alternative rock band founded in London in 1998, the band is composed of the
singer/pianist Chris Martin, the guitar player Jonny Buckland, the bassist Guy
Berryman and the drum player Will Champion. Coldplay has been nominated three
times for the Mercury Prize: in 2000, 2003 et finally in 2005. Coldplay is one
the commercial successes of the news millennium, with more than 30 million
albums sold. The band is also known for its tracks like "Speed of
Sound" and "Clocks" who won the a Grammy Award. Coldplay takes
part in social causes like fair trade and supports lobbies like Amnesty
International. Their latest album is called Viva la vida and its first single
was available first on the iTunes online music store. In only 3 days, their
album sold 302,000 copies, making it one the fastest selling album in the UK's
history. By the end of June, it had set a new record for most-downloaded album
ever.
