New Widget Mono Track & Grey songs

janvier 25th, 2008

Hi everyone,

I’m at MIDEM and it’s going to be fantastic for Deezer. Great news will be announced… but first of all, focus on you!

A new widget mono track has been released. It’s available on the player: while playing a track, click on the “BLOG” button, the code will be displayed and you’ll be able to select your colors.

Regarding the greyed songs, we have to apply some territorial restrictions and the Artists from Sony BMG and Universal are blocked during the negociations. We hope that everything will be ok in a few weeks.

I can see a lot of posts in this blog regarding the technical issues. The only way to contact our Tech Team is to contact them directly through this form www.deezer.com/contactez-nous.php

Stay tuned, there is something in the air…

From major to minor…

janvier 16th, 2008

That’s the title of an article published on the Economist and available here

I won’t write on this article and I let you comment. But in my mind it depicts the music landscape today. So where the majors go? Maybe Live Nations is going to be the MAJOR or maybe Deezer, whatever. The music industry is totaly lost and is just figuring out what’s going on! They are loosing their control on the whole value chain and some Artists have decided to move away from these huge machines. I’m very curious about your thougths. What will be the future of music? I’m asking you that because I don’t know what will happen (don’t worry i’ve done my homework and I have my idea), but first, let’s share our points of view. I’ll update this post to give you my opinion.

Don’t forget, if you have any issue with Deezer, contact us here and don’t forget to contact the appropriate service.

Stay tuned

The New Widget

janvier 11th, 2008

It seems the new Widget is a bit misunderstood by the bloggers community. Le me introduce the new Widget and its features:

  • The display of a Playlist has been changed but the way the Playlist is played is the same. The detailed Playlist has been changed to the list of your favorite artists. Playlists are played on a normal basis (a random play mode will be added soon)
  • You can custom the colors of your Widget
  • We’ve added some features to help users to interact with the widget:
    • Users can now add automatically a Playlist available in a Widget to their Deezer account
    • Users can see the blogger’s profile on Deezer and go to his/her Deezer page

That’s it for the new features. Let’s walk through these features. First of all, how can you add a Widget to your blog? It’s simple: click on the “BLOG” button at the top of any Playlist, the following form will pop:

Widget_Ecran de configuration

This window comprises 5 zones:

  1. Language selection
  2. Autoplay activation
  3. Colors choice
  4. The code to copy on you Blog
  5. The button to copy the code

Once embbeded, the Widget appears like this:

Widget_Ecran 1

  1. Click here to add this Playlist to your account
  2. The Player: Play/Pause & Skip, volume and elapsed time
  3. The list of Artists contained in your Playlists
  4. Click here to see the user profile
  5. The search box

By clicking on “Add to my favorites”, the following scren appears. Fill in the field and the Playlist will be automatically added to your Deezer account. If you don’t have a Deezer account, you can create your account by clicking on “register”:

Widget_Ecran 2

By clicking on the little icon at the bottom left of the Widget the following screen will appear:

Widget_Ecran 3

By clicking on “Display his profile” you open the blogger’s page on Deezer. If you want to come back to Deezer, click on “Close”.

I hope that everything is clear enough for you. This widget creates a new relationship between bloggers and users and we hope you’ll enjoy this new exciting feature.

Stay tuned

Update: Bugs

janvier 11th, 2008

Hi Everyone,

We are working hard to fix all the bugs of the new version. Below is a list of what we’ve fixed and some other information:

  • 100%: some of you mention that the site is blocked and the loading stops at 100%. It’s now ok, and if you continue to experience the same problem, delete all your temporary internet files from your web browser
  • Playlists: some of you don’t find or display their Playlists. Don’t worry, we have everything on our servers but we have some bugs with some accounts. To reactivate your Playlists contact our tech team with your login and pasword through the form available here www.deezer.com/contactez-nous.php
  • Linux/Ubuntu: some of you have some issue to display the site. We suggest to installe the package gsfont
  • Safari: we are working on that too
  • The songs don’t play: since the release of the new version our servers experience a huge trafic increase and they can’t serve all the queries. Everything should come back to normal by the end of the week

We are conscious of all your issues and we do our best to make Deezer works. Again, for any question contact our tech team through the form available here www.deezer.com/contactez-nous.php and we will come back to you as soon as we can.

Stay tuned,

Jonathan

First impressions!

janvier 10th, 2008

After a very short night, Deezer lives. It’s incredible to see your enthusiasm. Thank You!

We need a couple of days to fix all the bugs but when we see this huge new machine, it’s not that much.

Sorry for this afternoon, the service was down for a couple of hours but it’s ok now.

I can see in your comments a lot of questions so please follow the following rules for this blog:

  • For all technical questions, check our forum, you may find your answer. You can access directly here: www.deezer.com/forum
  • For all questions regarding your personal account, contact us directly here: http://www.deezer.com/legal/contactez-nous.php
  • For the rest, you are on the right place

Stay tuned,

Jonathan

Let’s get started, Deezer starts ‘08 with its new version

janvier 10th, 2008

It’s with a lot of emotion that we introduce the latest evolution of Deezer. Daniel and I have thought about this new version since the release of the prior version and since this date, we’ve been through a lot of very exciting things. From an easy to use juke box, we’ve transformed Deezer in a portal entirely dedicated to music. More contents, more communication, more networks, more groups, more music services, more of everything … Deezer becomes a real platform for music on the web and a news portal will be released soon. We’ve made a first step toward free music on demand when Deezer was officially launched and we continue to move step by step in an unknown territory. This challenge is our force and makes us move and surpass every day. It’s our partners’ trust, the collective societies, SONY BMG, BELIEVE, BECAUSE, IRIS DISTRIBUTION, that makes Deezer a fast mover. We innovate and we continue to open the way. So yes new partners will join us, yes Deezer will continue its international growth and yes Deezer will move on other channels.

It’s with a bite of nostalgy that we remind my kitchen our first “Office” (yes in France we start our Company from a Kitchen contrary to our Californian friends and their famous “Garage”) working 24/7. Deezer represents a family of seven passionate people that makes it grow evryday. Again, thank you for your support and your loyalty!

So what are we doing now? I won’t give you a detailled list of the new features. I let you discover by yourself but just in case, click on an artist name or an album…

Stay tuned!

John
